Vision Statement

The vision of John Yeates Middle School counseling program is that all scholars will attain academic success, social-emotional growth, and will become college or career ready. Scholars will be encouraged to build on existing skills and knowledge to discover and reach their full potential. Scholars will be prepared to function as life-long learners and productive citizens of our community.

School Counseling Department

JYMS School Counselors offer classroom social emotional learning lessons, as well as individual and small-group counseling. We also work closely with teachers and administrators to provide the best learning environment for each student. Working together with teachers, administrators, and parents, school counselors encourage a student's academic success and personal growth. The following services are provided:

- Crisis intervention

- Group counseling

- Conflict mediation

- Classroom guidance lessons

- Middle and High School scheduling (Spring)

- Referrals and coordination of counseling and related programs
